Peter "Parker" Yang was Arthur's business partner and best friend. He was killed prior to the first episode, when Arthur opened the book that bound him to John.
Personality[]
Parker was a hard boiled detective. He was nosey, stiff, tough and sometimes thick. He had cold eyes but wanted to help people. He often razzed Arthur and talked a lot. He was very observant about Arthur’s interests.[1]
Parker was known to use intimidation methods such as hitting a wall, breaking an object, or hitting the subject in order to extract information.[2]

History[]
Arthur describes Peter as his best friend, though it's unclear for how long they knew each other. Though he goes by Peter Yang professionally, growing up he went by his father's name, Parker, which Arthur himself sometimes calls him.
When Parker joined Arthur in investigating the disappearance of Emily MacFarland at 58 Pelican Lane, he insisted that they call the police before progressing too far, claiming he felt as if they were being watched. Arthur recalls that seeing the symbol of Shub-Niggurath seemed to "chill him to his core."[3]
Moments before the story begins, Parker and Arthur are preparing for business when Arthur goes to get the mail. He finds that they've received a book from J.D. Ackerman and, urged to do so by Parker, opens it, which leads to his getting possessed by John.[4] John quickly kills Parker.
Afterwards, when John and Arthur have returned from the Waylay and lost most of their memories of the encounter, Arthur can only recall reaching out a hand towards Peter. Parker called out Arthur's name before dying, which is the reason John is able to know his name from the start[3]. Though at first John blames Arthur for Peter's death, he later admits culpability himself, though the means by which he murdered Peter are unknown.[5]

On the 20th of August, 2022, Harlan posted lore about Parker to the malevolent-memes channel on discord. The information is as follows:
"Parker was a hard boiled detective that Arthur met at his lowest point. They weren't friends before Arthur hit rock bottom and that's why Arthur pursued that life. He needed to help others the way he didn't help those around him.
I think the two became close enough to share a business and apartment, etc.
Jack's Bar, a haunt near where Arthur was living a year or so after Faroe. He had been there, some night drinking. Eventually there were inquiries made about who he was, by Parker. Parker is a nosey, stiff PI, too tough and sometimes too thick to see the whole picture.
Parker cozied up to him razzed him a bit maybe. Arthur played dumb, apologized and asked to be left alone. Parker was too pushy for that.
Turns out Parker was working on a music related case. "I don't know anything about violins" - "music is music, isn't it?" Parker would smile
Arthur didn’t help on that case
But Parker, behind his sometimes cold eyes, saw a hurt in this guy that made him want to help - even in a small way
i think they both, without saying, kept running into each other
Cause it was easier than saying, I could use an ear
they moved to a booth, they ate chops, potatoes and tomatoes
Arthur said a little, Parker talked a lot.
Arthur warmed up, Parker cooled down and the two met in the middle
They had been working together for a few years at this point. Drips and dabs of Arthur, or who Arthur was, came out. In the way he dealt with death, the way he talked to kids, the way he steered clear of certain cases. Parker would ask him about it only every so often, as much as he was a bit of a hard-ass, Parker knew what it looked like when he pushed Arthur the wrong way. He was a sensitive soul. Parker knew not to push.
While staking out a busy downtown complex, they killed time in a music shop. Parker razzed him about playing, Arthur played a few keys but never sat down. Parker say the fire in his eyes, Arthur even made a joke or two about the keys - remarking at the quality, he knew his shit. "What's your favourite make? Or Model? Or... how do you decide?"
“Don't have one." his tone was flat. Parker knew the tone. Parker knew not to push.
Arthur's birthday came and went without gifts that year, but only cause the delivery was late. The piano - second hand - was wheeled into their office slash apartment and Arthur was quiet. He stared at it as it was set up, as the movers left, as Parker joked with them about paying them extra so he didn't have to touch the thing. A slap on the back from Parker and a gesture to the piano...
"You play, don't you?"
"Not anymore"
"Who's fault is that--"
"It's not a gag Parker. I don't play."
Parker knew not to push.
He bought him a late dinner and Arthur told him little, just enough to stop Parker from pushing. Some names, no faces - no descriptions. Just silhouettes of who they were. He talked mostly about why Bella and he were wrong and why Faroe felt right. He gave him only enough and never more. Parker bit his tongue till it bled but he knew not to push."[1]
Parker's and Arthur's relationship is described as brotherly, with Parker playing the role of the older brother to Arthur. [4][6]
